Educational levels and diplomas

In France, there are different levels for students and apprentices. The following options are available for a student or an apprentice.

CAP (Basic level)

After the 4th year of middle school, from the age of 15, apprentices can do a 2-year training course. After the 2 years, they can do a Bac Professionnel for 2 years or a Brevet Professionnel for 2 years.

Bac Professionnel

After the 4th year of middle school, apprentices can do a 3-year training course. After 3 years, they can do a BTS for 2 years.

Brevet professionnel

After the CAP or the Bac Professionnel, at the age of 17, apprentices can do a 2-year training course. After the 2 years, they can do a BTS for 2 years but generally they work immediately.

Brevet de Technicien Superieur: BTS (Higher National Diploma)

After a Bac Professionnel, from the age of 18, apprentices can do a 2-year training course. After 2 years, with the BTS they can find a job.
